What's Included

Every Stump Grinding Job Covers

01

Below-ground grinding

Taken down past the surface so you can turf, pave, or plant over the spot without hitting timber.

02

Large red gum stumps

The dense stumps left along the river and channel banks handled with a commercial grinder built for them.

03

Multiple stumps in one visit

Rows and clusters ground out in a single trip, which keeps the cost per stump down.

04

Tight access for house blocks

A narrow grinder fits through standard gateways for stumps in fenced back yards.

05

Chip cleaned up or left as mulch

The grindings carted away, or raked back into the hole and left as mulch if that suits you better.

06

Paddock and broad-acre work

Stumps cleared across open ground so machinery, fencing, and cropping can run straight through.

  • 24-metre truck-mounted boom for large takedowns
  • 18-metre tight-access tower for restricted sites
  • 12-inch and 18-inch wood chippers
  • Loader with 1400kg log grab
  • Advanced rigging and climbing equipment

Had Luke and his team remove 2 very large trees and grind some previously trimmed trunks. Couldn't believe how professional these guys are. Arrived on site and on time with the latest high-tech equipment. Couldn't overstate my recommendation.

Pricing

What Does Stump Grinding Cost in Torrumbarry?

Stump grinding is priced per stump and comes down to size, access, and how many you have. Luke gives a free, no-obligation on-site quote so the figure fits your property rather than a ballpark over the phone.

  • Diameter and spread of the stump
  • Number of stumps in the job
  • Depth of grind needed for what you are planning
  • Whether the chip is carted away or left as mulch
  • Access to the stump, including gate width and soft ground
  • Hardness of the timber, with river red gum among the toughest

We don’t quote ballpark prices over the phone. An on-site visit lets us give you a fair, accurate number and walk you through how the work will be done.

Frequently Asked

Stump Grinding Questions

It is priced per stump, based on diameter, timber hardness, access, and how deep you need it ground. Doing several at once always works out cheaper. Luke quotes free on site, so call 0457 202 026 and he will come out and give you a firm figure.

Grinding a stump on its own rarely needs approval. If the tree is still standing, or it is a protected or native tree, Campaspe Shire Council may need to approve the removal first. Luke can tell you whether that is likely to apply.

Yes. Red gum is the hardest timber we deal with out here and the commercial grinder is built for it. Width and depth are not a problem, it just takes a little longer than a softer stump.

Usually 200 to 300mm below the surface, which is enough for turf and garden beds. If you are paving, concreting, or planting a new tree in the same spot, we go deeper. Tell Luke what the area is for and he will set the depth accordingly.

Grinding suits most lawns and gardens and is quicker and cheaper. Full removal lifts the stump and root plate out, and that is the right call before building, laying a slab, or running a fence line through the spot.

The stump itself will not, though a few species can send up suckers from roots left in the ground. If that is a concern with your tree, Luke will say so at the quote and recommend full removal instead.

Yes. The tight-access grinder fits through standard gateways, so back yard stumps are routine even where a full-size machine could not get in.

Yes. Luke is a qualified arborist and all work carries full public liability and personal insurance, on farm and residential jobs alike.
